Westway Community Street
Continuing Co-Design

Following the co-design of the brief, there will be three ways of continuing the Community Street conversation with the public.

Voting

Voting will be used for scenarios where 2 or 3 clear options arise during the design phase. Where the design team considers each option to fulfil the requirements of the brief, the options will be put to the public for a vote. An example of this approach is the refurbishment of the Acklam WCs. Two plans have emerged, each with their own merits. These has now be put to the public in a vote.

Feedback

This method will be used for scenarios where broader, looser ideas are being tested with the public. In this case, voting is not possible nor productive, so instead

a document will be put online, and feedback will be received through comments. These comments will then be incorporated. DK-CM suggests that a version of this Stage 2 Report is put online to get feedback on the themes for each area, as well as the list of projects.

Co-Build

As outlined in the Stage 2 report, some projects have been specified that will work well as co-build projects. This will give the public the opportunity to be involved in the realisation of certain projects, and in doing so to input their ideas.

Lugadero Co-Design

'The process of engagement in the Summer of 2021 was led by Lugadero in collaboration with local representatives and supported by DK-CM.

Conversations with the local community were had through a variety of workshops which involved activities that focused discussion around air quality, ecology, local culture and public space along the Westway.

Please see the Updates page to see their full report’.
